Show Don't Tell: Matthew 15:32-39
As the sun dipped low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the rugged landscape, Jesus looked out at the multitude gathered before Him. Imagine the scene: four thousand weary souls, faces etched with hunger and hope, had journeyed for three days without a morsel to eat. They had followed Him across dusty trails and rocky hills, their hearts drawn not just by the promise of food but by His message of love and healing.
“Disciples,” He said, His voice filled with a deep compassion that resonated in the air like a gentle breeze, “I have compassion for these people. They have been with me three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry, they will collapse on the way.”
As the disciples exchanged bewildered glances, the weight of His words settled upon them. Where could they find enough bread in this desolate place? They scoured their surroundings, producing only seven loaves and a few small fish—an offering that seemed laughably inadequate.
But Jesus took what little they had, lifting it up in prayer, His hands trembling with gratitude. He broke the bread and distributed it to His disciples, who then served it to the crowd. Picture the scene: the aroma of warm bread mingled with the salty scent of fish as each person took a piece, their eyes widening in astonishment. The laughter of children mingled with exclamations of gratitude, as the first bites began to satisfy their ravenous hunger.
