Show Don't Tell: Matthew 18:10-14
In a sprawling valley dotted with wildflowers and whispering grasses, there lived a shepherd named Eli. Every morning, as the sun painted the horizon in shades of gold and crimson, Eli would lead his flock of one hundred sheep to the lush pastures. Each sheep had a name, and each name held a story, threading them into the fabric of Eli’s life.
One fateful evening, as twilight descended and shadows deepened, Eli counted his flock and realized one was missing. Panic surged in his chest like a storm. One sheep, named Lila—curious and adventurous—had wandered away, drawn by the allure of a patch of sweet clover hidden among the rocky slopes.
Eli’s heart raced as he swiftly made a decision. He couldn't simply stand by with the ninety-nine safe in the fold; he had to go after Lila. He left the flock nestled on a gentle hill, their soft bleats echoing in the cool air, and ventured into the rugged wilderness. The terrain was treacherous, the path littered with thorny thickets and sheer cliffs, but Eli pressed on, calling Lila’s name, his voice a desperate prayer among the rustling leaves.
After what felt like an eternity, he spotted her at the edge of a ravine, trembling and lost. Relief flooded Eli as he scooped her up in his arms, the warmth of her tiny body against his chest igniting a joy he had never known. "You are safe now, little one," he whispered, his voice thick with love.
