Show Don't Tell: Matthew 22:41-46

In the dimly lit courtyard of the Temple, the air was thick with tension as the Pharisees gathered, their robes rustling softly against the dusty stones. Their faces, lined with years of expectation and skepticism, were illuminated by the warm glow of the Mediterranean sun filtering through the arches. Jesus stood among them, a magnetic presence, His eyes sparkling with a challenge.

“Tell me,” He began, leaning slightly forward as if inviting them into a deeper conversation. “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is He?”

A murmur rippled through the crowd. “The son of David,” they replied confidently, their voices echoing off the ancient walls—a straightforward answer, yet one that hardly scratched the surface.

But Jesus pressed on, His voice steady and unwavering. “How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls Him ‘Lord’?” He quoted the psalm, each word resonating with profound authority: “The Lord said to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.’”
