Show Don't Tell: Matthew 27:1-10
Instead of saying "Judas felt remorse and killed himself," count the silver scatter. Early morning, all the chief priests and elders decide to put Jesus to death. They bind him, lead him away, hand him over to Pilate the governor. When Judas sees that Jesus is condemned, he is seized with remorse. He returns the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders: "I have sinned, for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is that to us? That's your responsibility." The silver crashes onto the temple floor. Judas goes out and hangs himself. The chief priests pick up the coins: "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." They use it to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. Field of Blood, it's called to this day. Jeremiah's prophecy fulfilled: thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by Israel, used to buy the potter's field.
