Show Don't Tell: Matthew 28:16-20
Instead of saying "Jesus gave the Great Commission," hear the final words. The eleven disciples go to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. When they see him, they worship him—but some doubt. Even seeing the risen Jesus, some hesitate. Jesus comes to them: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." All authority. Not some, not most—all. In heaven and on earth. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations." The mission is global. "Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Trinitarian formula at the gospel's end. "Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Not just converts but disciples who obey. Then the final promise: "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." He doesn't leave them alone. He doesn't send them and stay behind. He goes with them—with us—until the age is complete. The Gospel ends not with goodbye but with presence.
