Show Don't Tell: Matthew 6:5-15
Instead of saying "Jesus taught the Lord's Prayer," expose the performance first. The hypocrites love to pray standing on street corners—maximum visibility, maximum audience. "They have received their reward in full." Instead: go into your room, close the door, pray to your Father who is unseen. Don't babble like pagans who think they'll be heard for their many words. God already knows what you need. Then the model—spare, direct, audacious: "Our Father"—intimacy with the Almighty. "Hallowed be your name"—his honor first. "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"—surrender before requests. Only then: "Give us today our daily bread"—just today's portion. "Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors"—a dangerous prayer; Jesus underscores it: if you don't forgive others, your Father won't forgive you. "Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." Done. Fewer than seventy words. No performances. Just honest speech with the Father.
