Show Don't Tell: Psalm 126
Instead of saying "God restored Israel and will do so again," watch the dreamers laugh. Song of Ascents. "When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy." Restoration so overwhelming it felt like dreaming. Laughter filling mouths. "Then it was said among the nations, 'The LORD has done great things for them.' The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy." Nations noticing, joy overflowing. "Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev." Negev wadis—dry riverbeds that suddenly fill with flash floods. Restoration imagined as desert flood. "Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them." Tears as seed, weeping as planting, sheaves as harvest. Sorrow transformed.
