Stepping Into What You Cannot See

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, there is a scene that has stayed with audiences for decades. Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford, stands at the edge of a vast chasm. His father is dying from a gunshot wound, and the only hope is the Holy Grail, which lies on the other side. But there is no visible bridge — just empty air and a drop that would kill him instantly.

His father's journal reads, "Only in the leap from the lion's head will he prove his worth." Indy closes his eyes, extends his foot over the abyss, and steps forward. His boot lands on solid stone — an invisible bridge, camouflaged against the canyon wall, was there the whole time. He simply could not see it until he was standing on it.

This is what trust in the Almighty looks like. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." God does not always show us the bridge before we step. He asks us to move forward when every instinct screams to stay put, when the path ahead looks like nothing but empty air.

The bridge was always there for Indy. He just had to step out to discover it. And the God who holds the universe together has already prepared the ground beneath your next step. You do not need to see it. You just need to trust the One who built it.
