The Backup You Forgot You Had

In 2011, Apple introduced iCloud, and with it a quiet revolution in trust. And yet, every night, while you sleep, your phone sends what is most precious to you — photos of your children, conversations with people you love — into the invisible cloud without a second thought.

You discover how deep that trust runs the moment your phone shatters on the pavement. Your stomach drops. Then you remember. You sign into a new device, and there it all is — every photo, every message — held safely by something you never once inspected with your own eyes.

The Psalmist understood this kind of trust long before Silicon Valley existed. "Into Your hands I commit my spirit," David wrote in Psalm 31:5. He was backing up the most precious thing he had — his very life — to a God he could not see but had learned to rely on through long experience.

Trust is never the absence of risk. It is the confidence that what you have entrusted to Another is safer in His hands than in your own. Apple engineers built redundancy across multiple data centers so nothing is ever truly lost. How much more has the Almighty — El Shaddai, the God who is more than enough — built His faithfulness into the very architecture of creation?
