The Birthday of Blessing: When Foundation Meets Promise
Ezekiel's promise—"From this day will I bless you"—marks what Archibald O. Brown termed "the birthday of blessing." The foundation of the temple prefigures the Church, of which each believer is a living stone. Though God's people existed in His purpose from eternity, the day of conversion is when the foundation of our salvation is laid in our experience.
This blessed day bears multiple names in Scripture. It is a day of espousals—when Jesus, our heavenly Bridegroom, wins the heart of His bride. It is a day of power, for converting a sinner exceeds human capacity and glorifies even Jehovah's omnipotence. It is the day of salvation, requiring no fixed age.
The dawning of this day manifests six characteristics. First, it often arrives with cloudy dawning—darkness resists most desperately before light breaks. Second, many experience secret dawning, unable to name the precise hour of conversion; yet they fear this uncertainty invalidates their experience. Third, God sets no schedule; some dawn early, others after long delay. Fourth, the dawn is silent—seen but not heard. Fifth, like all dawns, it proves irresistible when God ordains it. Sixth, dawn merely commences the day; morning childhood lengthens into full noon development.
The declared blessing encompasses all spiritual mercies: pardon, peace, and every temporal and eternal good. Jehovah, the great Promiser, remains faithful, strong, and Lord of elements and seasons, pledging comprehensive blessing to His covenanted people.
