The Bloatware We Carry
When you buy a new Samsung Galaxy phone, it rarely arrives clean. It ships with dozens of pre-installed apps you never asked for — Bixby, Galaxy Store, game launchers, shopping portals. They run silently in the background, draining your battery, consuming your storage, slowing everything down. Most people never realize they can go into settings and start disabling what they never chose. They just assume the sluggishness is normal.
Then someone shows them how. They scroll through the app list, start disabling and clearing out. The difference is immediate. The phone wakes faster. The battery lasts hours longer. There is finally room for what actually matters.
Paul told the Galatians, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1). So many of us walk through life weighed down by spiritual bloatware — guilt we were handed in childhood, shame someone installed in us years ago, habits and obligations we never chose. They run in the background of our souls, draining our joy, consuming our peace, slowing our walk with God.
The gospel is the Almighty reaching into the settings of your life and saying, "You do not have to carry that anymore." Christ does not merely forgive. He frees. He clears the background processes of condemnation and makes room for the life you were actually designed to live.
What is running in your background that you never chose?
