The Blood That Changes You

In the world of medicine, few procedures are as radical as a bone marrow transplant. When a patient with leukemia receives donor marrow, something extraordinary happens over the following weeks. The donor's stem cells take root in the patient's bones and begin producing entirely new blood. Gradually, every red cell, every white cell, every platelet is replaced. The old blood — the diseased blood — is gone. In many cases, the patient's blood type itself changes to match the donor's. A person who walked into the hospital as Type A walks out as Type O. Their very identity, at the cellular level, has been rewritten.

This is not a minor adjustment. It is not a tune-up. The medical community calls it engraftment — the moment the new life takes hold and begins doing what the old system could no longer do.

Paul understood this kind of transformation long before modern hematology. "If anyone is in Christ," he wrote, "the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here" (2 Corinthians 5:17). God does not simply improve what was failing in us. He replaces it. He grafts His life into our bones, and slowly, thoroughly, the old gives way to something we could never have manufactured on our own.

You do not have to generate your own healing. The Donor has already given everything. Your work is simply to receive it — and let the engraftment take hold.
