The Bridge That Was Already Built
In 2010, a massive earthquake devastated Haiti, leaving tens of thousands trapped beneath collapsed buildings in Port-au-Prince. Relief organizations from around the world mobilized immediately. Planes loaded with food, water, medical supplies, and rescue teams landed at the damaged airport within hours. Everything the people needed to survive was there — offered freely, no strings attached.
But here was the heartbreak: some survivors, terrified and disoriented, refused to leave the crumbling structures where they hid. They didn't trust the rescuers. They couldn't believe that strangers would come from thousands of miles away just to save them. The help wasn't withheld from anyone. No one was turned away based on who they were or what they had done. The rescue was already in motion before anyone asked for it.
This is the stunning reality of John 3:16-18. The Almighty didn't send His Son into the world to stand at a distance and judge who deserved saving. He sent Jesus the way those planes were sent to Haiti — loaded with everything we need, arriving before we even knew how desperate our situation was. The offer stands for everyone.
Condemnation isn't something God imposes on the unwilling. It's what happens when someone chooses to stay buried in the rubble, refusing the hand already reaching for them. The rescue has come. The bridge between heaven and earth has already been built. The only question left is whether we will walk across it.
