The Bridge You Cannot See

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, there is a scene that has stayed with moviegoers for decades. Indiana Jones stands at the edge of a bottomless chasm inside an ancient temple. His father is dying from a gunshot wound, and the only hope is the Holy Grail, waiting on the other side. But there is no bridge. His father's diary describes a "leap of faith" — a step into what looks like certain death.

Everything in Indy screams not to step off that ledge. Every rational instinct says he will fall. But with his father's life slipping away, he places his hand over his heart, lifts his foot, and steps into empty air. His boot lands on solid stone. A bridge was there all along, camouflaged to match the canyon walls. It was invisible until he stepped onto it.

That scene captures something profound about trusting the Almighty. So often God asks us to move forward when we cannot see the path. We stand at the edge of a diagnosis, a layoff, a shattered relationship, and we see nothing beneath us but empty space. The Lord does not always reveal the bridge before we step. But He promises to be our firm foundation.

Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." The bridge is there. The Most High has already built it. Sometimes the only way to find it is to take the step.
