In 2015, Swedish scientist Tomas Lindahl shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for a discovery that had puzzled researchers for decades: how our DNA repairs itself. Every single day, each cell in your body sustains tens of thousands of molecular injuries — damage from sunlight, toxins, even the simple act of breathing. By all rights, our genetic code should dissolve into chaos within a generation.

They cut out the damaged segment entirely, and a repair enzyme called polymerase rebuilds that section using the original blueprint stored in the complementary strand. This is what the forgiveness of the Almighty looks like. When we come to God with our brokenness, He doesn't just paper over our sin. He doesn't leave the damage in place and tell us to try harder. Through the cross, He cuts away what is broken and rebuilds us according to His original design. As Isaiah declared, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow."
Your past is not permanent. The God who engineered repair into the very fabric of your cells has written restoration into the fabric of the gospel. He doesn't patch. He makes new.
