The Code That Was Always There
In 2003, scientists completed the Human Genome Project — thirteen years of painstaking work to map every gene in the human body. What they discovered was staggering: three billion letters of genetic code, all arranged in precise sequence, carrying instructions for everything from the color of your eyes to the way your heart beats.
But here is what fascinates me most. Your DNA existed before you were conscious of it. Long before you ever wondered who you were or what you were meant to do, every cell in your body already carried a blueprint. You did not create that code. You did not choose it. It was written into you from the very beginning.
The Psalmist understood this long before modern genetics. "For You formed my inward parts," David wrote. "You knitted me together in my mother's womb. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me" (Psalm 139:13, 16).
So many of us spend years searching for our purpose as though it is something we must invent. We scroll through career quizzes and personality assessments, hoping some algorithm will tell us who we are. But God is not asking you to write your own code. He is asking you to read what He already wrote.
Your purpose is not something you manufacture. It is something you discover — because the Author already embedded it in your design.
