The Declaration That Changed Everything

On April 12, 1955, Dr. Thomas Francis Jr. stepped to the podium at Rackham Auditorium on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. Before an audience of scientists and reporters, he announced the results of the largest medical field trial in American history: Jonas Salk's polio vaccine was "safe, effective, and potent." The reaction was instantaneous. Factory whistles sounded. People wept in the streets. Judges adjourned court so everyone could hear the news. Isaiah 53:5 declares a far greater announcement: "By His wounds we are healed."
