The Example of Courage - Biblical Analogy
A few years back, I met a woman named Miss Clara in our community. She was a quiet soul, but there was a strength about her that drew people in. One Sunday afternoon, she shared with me a story from her youth. During the civil rights movement, she and her friends would march for justice, facing hostility, opposition, and even danger. But there was one march in particular that stood out in her memory.
As they stood at the foot of a bridge, fear gripped her heart. The chants of courage echoed around her, but she felt small, like a whisper in a storm. The police were lined up, menacing and ready. It would have been easy to turn back, to let fear dictate her path. Then she remembered her grandmother’s words: “Courage isn’t the absence of fear, baby, it’s the choice to move forward in faith.”
With her heart pounding, she took a step forward. One step turned into another, and soon she was marching with conviction, her faith guiding her through the storm of uncertainty. Miss Clara went on to say that it was that day she truly understood the power of agape—the selfless love that God has for us, as laid out in John 3:16.
Just like that march, our journey may be filled with uncertainty and fear. But with faith, we can find the courage to step forward, trusting that He will guide us every step of the way. When we lean into that love, we discover we’re not alone; we are held by a promise of hope and strength, ready to face whatever lies ahead.
