The Example of Courage - Contemporary Example
Last year, I met a young woman named Tasha in our community. Tasha is a single mother, working two jobs to provide for her three children. One evening, she shared her story with me over coffee, tears glistening in her eyes. You see, Tasha had just been diagnosed with a serious illness. The doctor told her that she would need to undergo a rigorous treatment plan. Fear gripped her heart, threatening to overshadow her faith.
But then, something incredible happened. Tasha leaned into her courage. With each step she took in treatment, she would gather her children around her and read from the Bible, sharing God’s promises. She would recite Isaiah 41:10, reminding them that God was with them — “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”
Tasha began to transform her fear into a foundation of faith. Each day, she chose to trust that God had a purpose in her pain, pulling her family closer together. She even started a small prayer group with other mothers facing similar battles, saying, “If God so loved the world that He gave His only Son” — John 3:16 — then surely, He loves us in our struggles too.
Through her journey, Tasha has shown us that courage isn’t the absence of fear but the decision to move forward despite it. Friends, let her story remind us that in our darkest seasons, God’s love leads us, guiding us toward spiritual growth and purpose. Where fear looms, let faith bloom.
