The Example of Goodness - Contemporary Example

A few years ago, I met a woman named Clara in our community. Life had thrown a multitude of challenges her way. A single mother, she juggled two jobs to provide for her three children, each day waking before dawn and collapsing into bed long after the sun had set. Yet, despite her exhaustion, Clara radiated a quiet strength that drew people to her.

One day, I found Clara volunteering at a local shelter. I watched as she served meals, her hands moving deftly, but it was the way she interacted with each guest that struck me. She listened intently, offering more than just food; she offered dignity and respect. I asked her how she could do this after such long hours at work. Her response was simple yet profoundly rooted in faith: “I believe in the goodness of God. It transforms me, and I want to be a vessel of that goodness for others.”

Reflecting on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, we see that love is not just a feeling but an active choice that requires trust and perseverance.
