The Example of Grace - Contemporary Example
A few months ago, a friend of mine, Sarah, faced a mountain of uncertainty when her husband lost his job unexpectedly. With two children and a mortgage, the weight of fear pressed heavily upon her. Through it all, she felt tempted to spiral into despair. But one evening, as she sat alone in her living room, she opened her Bible to Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God."
In that moment, Sarah realized that God wasn’t asking her to have all the answers or to fix everything herself. Instead, He was inviting her to rest in His grace. Slowly, she began to pray more intentionally, taking her worries and laying them at His feet. She found herself turning to God in trust—not just to ask for solutions, but to listen and seek His presence.
Within weeks, she sensed a remarkable shift in her spirit. The anxiety began to ease, replaced by a quiet confidence. She started volunteering at the local food bank, not out of obligation, but as a way to share the hope she was beginning to feel. People noticed her light, and it became a beacon of encouragement in their lives, drawing others to her.
Sarah discovered that faith doesn’t always remove our struggles, but it does provide stability in the storm. As she learned to be still, she found not only her own growth but also became a source of comfort for those around her, reflecting God’s love in the process. In embracing grace, she found peace amid chaos—and that is the heart of true faith.
