The Example of Kindness - Story

Mary had a small garden behind her quaint cottage, filled with blooming flowers that danced in the breeze. Each morning, as the sun filtered through the leaves, she would kneel in the soft earth, tending to her plants with love and care. One day, she noticed her elderly neighbor, Mr. Thompson, struggling to keep his yard tidy. His hands trembled, and weeds seemed to overrun the beautiful patches of color he once nurtured.

Inspired, Mary decided to show kindness in a tangible way. Armed with gardening tools, she ventured into his yard, quietly pulling weeds and planting new flowers. As she worked, she hummed softly, the sound weaving through the air like a gentle prayer. After a few hours, Mr. Thompson stepped outside, his face lighting up with surprise and gratitude.

“Why would you do this for me?” he asked, a tremor in his voice.

Mary smiled, reflecting the love described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, where it says, “Love is patient, love is kind...” She replied, “Because we are called to bear one another's burdens. You’ve always been there for me when I needed a friend.”
