The Example of Kindness - Story
Last summer, I volunteered at a community garden, a patch of green nestled between two busy streets. Each Saturday, we gathered to plant seeds, water the earth, and nurture the fragile sprouts that promised a harvest. One day, as I was digging my hands into the rich soil, a young girl named Mia approached me. She was about eight, full of curiosity and a radiant smile.
"Mister, why are we waiting for the plants to grow?" she asked, her brow wrinkled in confusion. I knelt down to her level, smiled, and said, “Every plant has its own season. Some need more sunlight, others require just the right amount of water. We wait with hope, trusting that each seed will fulfill its purpose.”
Mia pondered my words, then said, “So, it’s like us? We need time to grow too?” I nodded, feeling a warmth in my heart. Just then, I noticed that she had picked up a small, wilting flower at the edge of the garden. Instead of tossing it aside, she gently placed it in the sunlight and watered it carefully.
That moment struck me. Mia embodied the kindness we often overlook in our impatient world. She understood the value of waiting and nurturing not just plants but the people around her.
