The Example of Peace - Story

There was a young woman named Sophia who lived in a quaint village surrounded by rolling hills and flowering meadows. Despite the beauty around her, Sophia felt an unsettling turmoil within. Her days were filled with a relentless striving—striving to prove her worth, to gain approval, and to win the love she so desperately craved. The harder she worked, the more exhausted she became, feeling like she was running on a treadmill without ever reaching her destination.

One evening, while wandering the fields, she stumbled upon an elderly man sitting quietly under a sprawling oak tree. His face bore the lines of wisdom, and his presence radiated a serene peace. Curious, Sophia approached him and shared her burdens. He listened intently and then gently spoke, “Child, peace is not found in your efforts but in the grace offered to you.”

He went on to recount the words from Ephesians 2:8-9, explaining how it is by grace we have been saved, through faith—not by our own works. With each word, Sophia felt a heavy weight lifting.
