The Example of Righteousness - Story

Rebecca was a woman who seemed to embody righteousness in her everyday life. She worked at a small coffee shop in town, a warm little place where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the laughter of customers. She had a way of seeing people, really seeing them. Each morning, she would greet her regulars by name, asking about their families, their struggles, their joys. It was in those small moments that her love would shine brightly.

One particularly rainy afternoon, a distraught young man named Jacob walked in, his face etched with worry. He ordered a coffee but barely touched it, staring blankly out the window. Rebecca noticed and approached him, her eyes full of compassion. “You look heavy today, Jacob. Can I pray for you?” she asked gently. The young man hesitated, but something in her earnestness drew him in. As they prayed, Jacob felt a weight lift—a flicker of hope ignited in his heart.

Later, he shared how he had lost his job and felt lost in his purpose. Rebecca smiled, her voice steady, “Sometimes, we need to pause—be still, as Psalm 46:10 tells us. In that stillness, God reveals His plans for us, often in unexpected ways.”

With her encouragement, Jacob began to seek new opportunities. Rebecca's faith transformed that moment of despair into a stepping stone towards purpose. Her example of righteousness wasn’t merely in her actions but in the love that exalted faith into works, guiding Jacob toward a brighter horizon.
