The Example of Righteousness - Story
There was a small town where a wise old man lived at the edge of a serene lake. His reputation for wisdom drew people from far and wide, seeking guidance for their troubled hearts. One day, a young woman approached him, burdened by a series of poor choices that left her feeling trapped in shame. She sat by the lake, tears mingling with the gentle ripples of water.
The old man listened patiently as she poured out her heart. Then he pointed to the lake. “What do you see?” he asked. She looked closely. “I see the reflection of the trees and the sky,” she replied, her brow furrowed in confusion.
“Truth is like this lake,” he explained. “When the waters are stirred by the wind, the reflection becomes unclear. But when the waters are still, you see things as they truly are. Your life may feel chaotic right now, but God works in all things for the good of those who love Him, as we read in Romans 8:28. It’s about allowing the chaos to settle so you can see the reflection of God’s righteousness and wisdom in your life.”
With newfound hope, she realized that her journey of reflection was not one of despair, but of growth. Each choice, each moment of regret could be transformed into wisdom, guiding her toward a deeper relationship with God. She stood up, looked at the lake, and saw her true self—not defined by her failures, but by the grace that called her to rise anew. In that moment, she embraced the possibility of a life aligned with righteousness, ready to respond to God's love with courage and joy.
