The Example of Salvation - Contemporary Example
A few months ago, I had the privilege of visiting a local rehabilitation center, where men and women are fighting to reclaim their lives from addiction. As I entered a room filled with weary faces, one young man caught my attention. His name was Caleb. With eyes that spoke of both pain and determination, he shared his story with us. Caleb had once been lost in the depths of addiction, feeling utterly abandoned and believing he would never find his way out. His life was a tangled mess of bad decisions, broken relationships, and haunting regrets.
But Caleb encountered grace in a most unexpected way. One evening, during a heartfelt prayer meeting, he felt a profound sense of peace wash over him, as if God Himself was saying, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Immediately, he was reminded of Joshua 1:9. Those words echoed in his heart, igniting a flicker of hope.
Caleb decided to embrace faith, to trust in the redemptive power of Jesus. Day by day, through struggles and setbacks, he clung to the promise of transformation. Today, Caleb stands before us not as a man defined by his past, but as a radiant example of salvation and perfection found in Christ. He is now a mentor for others in the center, helping them see that no one is beyond redemption.
Caleb’s journey reminds us that God’s grace is not only sufficient; it empowers us to become vessels of hope for others, fulfilling His purpose in our lives. Through faith, we can rise, just as Caleb has, to embody the very joy of salvation.
