The Example of Wisdom - Contemporary Example
In a small town, there lived a man named James who had recently lost his job of twenty years. Fear and uncertainty clouded his heart as he faced the prospect of navigating life without the familiar structure of his daily routine. With bills piling up and a family depending on him, James felt lost in a dark forest, unsure of which way to turn.
One afternoon, he took a long walk to clear his mind, hoping to find a glimmer of direction. As he strolled along the riverbank, he noticed a young woman sitting by the water, her eyes focused on a small boat. She was guiding the boat with a steady hand, navigating the currents with keen discernment. Intrigued, James approached her and asked how she remained so calm in the face of uncertainty.
With a gentle smile, she shared that she had learned to trust not only her instincts but also the guidance of the river itself; she understood its twists and turns. “It’s like life,” she said, “sometimes we can’t see the path ahead, but if we keep our eyes open and trust in something greater, we’ll find our way.”
In that moment, James was reminded of Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Encouraged by this encounter, James began to pray and seek wisdom in his decisions. He embraced the belief that even in moments of darkness, with faith, he could find light to guide his path. His journey was still unfolding, but he faced it with renewed hope and a spirit ready to grow.
