The Example of Wisdom - Story
In a small village nestled between lush hills, there lived a wise old man known as Elias. His tiny home was filled with books and scrolls, and villagers often sought him for guidance. One foggy evening, a young woman named Miriam walked up the winding path to Elias's door, her heart heavy with uncertainty. She had just lost her job and felt lost in a haze of confusion.
As she entered, the warm light from the fireplace flickered, casting dancing shadows on the walls. Elias welcomed her with a gentle smile and listened patiently as she poured out her worries. After a long pause, he reached for a small, intricately carved lantern that sat on the shelf. With a flick of his wrist, the lantern glowed brightly, illuminating the room.
“Miriam,” he said, “this light represents wisdom and guidance. Just as I can illuminate this room, God offers us illumination through His Word. Remember what He instructed Joshua: ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.’”
As the light flickered, Elias encouraged Miriam to seek God’s direction in prayer and scripture, trusting that He would reveal her path. With renewed hope, she left Elias's home, feeling a warmth in her heart. Like that lantern, God's wisdom would guide her steps—turning her confusion into clarity and illuminating her journey toward purpose. In the seeking, we grow; in the light, we find our way.
