The God Who Mends What Breaks
Every single day, the DNA inside each of your cells sustains tens of thousands of injuries. Ultraviolet light, metabolic byproducts, simple copying errors — the damage never stops. By all rights, our genetic code should fall apart within hours.
But it doesn't.
In 2015, Swedish scientist Tomas Lindahl shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering how cells fight back. He identified a process called base excision repair — molecular machinery that patrols the DNA strand, detects the damage, cuts out the broken piece, and rebuilds it. Not once. Not occasionally. Thousands of times a day, in every cell, for your entire life. Your body is not preserved because nothing ever goes wrong. Your body is preserved because something is always making it right again.
That is a picture of what the Almighty does in the life of every believer.
Perseverance is not the absence of damage. It is not a life where nothing breaks. Perseverance is the daily, quiet, faithful work of repair. The Holy One meets us in our fractures — in the grief that splits us open, the failure that unravels our confidence, the sin that corrupts what was whole — and He mends us from the inside out.
You may feel broken today. You are not falling apart. The same God who engineered repair into every cell of your body is at work in your spirit right now, restoring what the day has torn.
He has not stopped mending you. Do not stop trusting Him.
