The Heavenly Temple Opened: God's Faithfulness Revealed

When John beheld the temple of God opened in heaven (Revelation 11:19), he witnessed a spectacle of surpassing grandeur—the revealing splendour that dissolves the mists of ages and solves enigmas that have puzzled the wisest minds.

This vision discloses three critical truths about Adonai's character. First, it is a spectacle of Divine government: our God and King is enshrined in the heavenly temple, from whence He governs all things in the interest of His Church, contending with and defeating her enemies. The unexplained procedures of His governance will soon be made clear.

Second, within His temple appears the ark of the Testament—a symbol of God's faithfulness in carrying out the covenant of redemption. He selected the Jewish nation as the vessel through which He revealed His saving purposes to the world. The work of atonement was conceived, developed, and executed in perfect harmony with all the attributes of the Divine character.

Third, this faithfulness manifests in twofold action: rewarding the faithful—His servants the prophets, the saints eminent for piety, and all who fear His name, small and great—according to their works; and taking vengeance on His enemies, those who destroy the earth through wars, desolations, and flagrant sins that cry for justice.

The contemplation of God's faithfulness stimulates the righteous and alarms the wicked.
