The Law of Increase: Grace Multiplied Through Faithful Use
Mark 4:25 unveils the principle of spiritual multiplication: "For he that hath, to him shall be given." This is the law of increase operating in the kingdom of Elohim.
The faithful soul accumulates boundless spiritual riches because it places no limits on its fidelity. Conversely, the base and slothful soul grows poorer daily until stripped of all. Consider the evangelical laborer—the zealous missionary who crosses seas to seek souls for conversion, intent solely upon sinners' salvation. The greater his grace, the more it multiplies through labor. This is the holy "usury" of a faithful soul, as Quesnel observes.
Having facilitates getting. One language aids acquisition of another; mathematical knowledge opens science; initial victory enables the next. Each truth perceived opens the mind for perceiving another. Grace to perform one good act opens the heart to receive grace for the next.
Yet vigilance is essential. Three particular evils threaten the hearer of God's Word: the seed may be lost before faith renders it fruitful; merely temporary faith may spring up; or the Word may prove fruitless through worldly cares, the deceit of riches, and lusts of other things.
If converted, do not undervalue the infinite importance of your beginning. Remember: whatever knowledge, feeling, or power of obedience you possess, you will lose unless you actively employ it. Faithful hearing of God's Word demands attention—for no benefit comes to the careless hearer, though Noah, Moses, Paul, or even Jesus Himself speak.
