The Leap He Could Not See
In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, there is a moment that has stuck with moviegoers for decades. Indiana Jones stands at the edge of a chasm — a canyon so deep its bottom disappears into shadow. His father is dying behind him. The only way forward is across. His notebook says to take a step of faith. But there is no bridge. There is nothing but air and a hundred-foot drop.
Everything in him says don't move. Every instinct screams that stepping forward means falling. But Indy closes his eyes, lifts his foot, and steps into the void.
His boot lands on solid stone. A bridge was there all along — painted to match the canyon walls, invisible from where he stood, but absolutely real.
This is what trust looks like in the life of faith. The Almighty does not always show us the bridge before we step. He does not hand us a blueprint for the next five years. He says, "Walk." And we say, "But I cannot see the path." And He says, "I know. Walk anyway."
Proverbs 3:5 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. That verse is not asking us to be reckless. It is asking us to believe that the God who calls us forward has already laid something solid beneath our feet — even when we cannot see it yet.
The bridge is there, friend. Step.
