The Liberal Soul Made Fat: Generosity's Reciprocal Blessing
Proverbs 11:25 establishes a divine principle of reciprocal blessing: "The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself." The waterer is watered. This teaching rests upon nature's own law—that no creature exists in isolation, but all things experience mutual action and reaction within Elohim's creation. God has constituted the universe such that selfishness violates His law most grievously, while ministering to others represents strictest obedience to His will.
Our surest path to personal happiness lies in seeking the good of our fellows. We deposit in God's own bank what we generously expend for our race. To accumulate, we must scatter; to gain happiness and spiritual vigor, we must do good and seek the spiritual welfare of others.
This principle applies personally: all believers possess power to water others through admonition, kind suggestion, teaching, and example. In watering others, we awaken our own powers, gain instruction, find comfort in our work, grow humble, receive intercessory prayers, and manifest Christ's love—becoming more like Him. The principle extends to the Church corporately: having enjoyed singular prosperity, we must undertake enterprises for Christ and maintain this watering work continually, trusting that Adonai returns blessing to the generous giver.
