The Network That Carries the Signal

In 2017, Google introduced its Wifi mesh networking system, and it quietly illustrated something the Church has known for two thousand years. A traditional router works alone. It sits in one room and broadcasts its signal outward, but the further you move from it, the weaker the connection becomes. Walk to the far end of the house, and you lose it entirely. One device, working in isolation, simply cannot reach everywhere it needs to.

A mesh network operates on a radically different principle. Multiple small devices are placed throughout the home, and each one both receives and rebroadcasts the signal. The device in the kitchen strengthens the connection for the one in the bedroom. The one upstairs carries the signal down to the basement. No single node does all the work. Every node depends on the others, and together they create coverage that none of them could achieve alone.

Paul saw this long before Silicon Valley did. "The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I don't need you'" (1 Corinthians 12:21). Every member of the body carries the signal of Christ's love into rooms the others cannot reach. The retired schoolteacher strengthens the young mother's faith. The teenager's passion rekindles the deacon's weary hope.

You are not called to be a lone router, burning out trying to cover every room by yourself. You are one node in a living network, and your presence extends the reach of grace for everyone around you.
