The Omnipotence of Faith: Taking God at His Word
"If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth" (Mark 5:23). Faith is taking Elohim at His Word. The truths requiring cordial belief are these: all have sinned; I am a guilty sinner exposed to just punishment; Jesus Christ, having died for all, is Saviour to those who truly believe on Him.
You are authorized to believe. Adonai has made rich provision. That you cannot believe in Christ without being saved is evident from: (1) the character of God; (2) the Word of God; (3) the assurances God has given; (4) the promises of God; (5) the covenant of God (Hebrews 6:13, 18); (6) the experience of His people across all ages.
Faith's exercise includes attention, knowledge, reason, memory, the affections, and the will—the determined exercise of affections aided by understanding. Consider the examples: Abraham, the three Hebrew children, Daniel, the man with the withered hand, the dying thief.
All real goodness is attained through faith in Christ, implying the absence of distrust, presumption, and indifference. Faith must be limited by the promises of God and have reference to the particular blessing sought. You must be versed in the particular promises Adonai has given and the method by which He bestows them. Therefore: believe now. Continue to believe. Be it unto thee according to thy faith.
