The Passion of the Christ: Christ Our Armor - Christocentric (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Picture this: a bustling marketplace in Jerusalem, the air thick with spices and the sound of merchants calling out as they sell their wares. Among those people, a young woman named Miriam walks with purpose, her heart heavy with worry. Every day, she feels the weight of her struggles—an unrelenting enemy of doubt and despair that seems to follow her wherever she goes. Yet, in the midst of the chaos, she has a secret weapon.

One day, as she hurries through the market, she stops at a stall adorned with vibrant fabrics. The merchant, an older man with a twinkle in his eye, recognizes her anxious expression. “Miriam,” he says, “what you need is armor.” She chuckles lightly; she’s not a soldier, after all. But he leans in, speaking quietly, “Not the kind that’s made of metal, but the kind that comes from within. The kind that protects your heart and mind.”

As he speaks, Miriam envisions putting on a magnificent suit—the armor of Christ. The truth of her identity as a beloved daughter of God wraps around her like a cloak. The righteousness of Christ envelops her like a protective shield. She sees the peace that transcends understanding resting on her shoulders, and faith becoming her sturdy boots, enabling her to walk boldly into the battles of each day.

In that moment, she remembers Ephesians 6:10-18—not as a list of tasks, but as an invitation to put on Jesus Himself. The fear and doubt that once threatened to overwhelm her are replaced by an unshakeable confidence. As she steps out of the marketplace, she knows she is not facing her battles alone.
