The Password You No Longer Need

Every year, the average person manages over 100 passwords. We store them in vaults like 1Password or Bitwarden, cycling through resets and recovery codes, locked out of our own accounts by the very systems designed to protect us. We forget the password to the thing that holds all our other passwords. We are, in the most modern sense of the word, captive to our own security.

Then Apple, Google, and Microsoft introduced passkeys — a technology that replaces passwords entirely. Instead of remembering a string of characters you created under duress at 11 p.m., your device simply recognizes you. Your fingerprint. Your face. Who you are becomes the key. No more resets. No more lockouts. No more frantically typing variations of your dog's name followed by an exclamation point.

This is what Christ does with the law. Paul writes to the Galatians, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1). The old system demanded constant performance — remember the right codes, follow the right steps, never slip up. But Jesus replaced the whole system. He does not ask you to try harder at the old password. He knows you by name. Your identity in Him is the key.

You are not locked out. You are recognized, known, and welcomed home.
