The Power of Courage - Biblical Analogy
Picture a young boy standing at the edge of a deep, shimmering lake. He watches as older kids leap off the dock, confident and carefree, their laughter echoing in the air. But he hesitates, gripped by fear. His heart races. He wants to join them, to experience the thrill of the water rushing around him, but doubts flood his mind. "What if I sink? What if I’m not strong enough?"
Just then, his father walks over and kneels beside him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "Son, remember the times you’ve been brave? Your courage isn’t about the absence of fear; it’s about trusting that I’m right here with you." The boy nods, recalling moments when his father guided him through challenges.
With a deep breath, he steps forward, his heart pounding like a drum. In an instant, he takes the leap. As he splashes into the water, he feels the weight of fear lift, replaced by exhilaration and joy. He surfaces, laughing, embraced by the cool waters, buoyed not only by the lake but by the unwavering love of his father.
Just like this boy, Peter took a brave step out of the boat on the stormy sea, guided by his faith in Jesus. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that our salvation comes not from our self-efforts but by grace through faith. When we lean into the courage God provides, we discover that the waters of life can be exhilarating, not terrifying. Trust in Him today; He’s right there beside you, ready to catch you when you leap.
