The Power of Gentleness - Story
A few years ago, I met a man named Thomas, a gentle soul who worked as a gardener in our community. On the surface, his job might seem simple, but in his hands, it was a canvas for God’s artistry. Thomas had a remarkable ability to coax life from the most stubborn of soils. He would often say, “Plants are like us; they need proper care and time to grow.”
One day, I visited his garden, captivated by the vibrant blooms surrounding us. As we walked through the rows, I noticed a wilting flower at the edge. Without hesitation, Thomas knelt beside it, speaking softly as if the flower could hear him. He gently loosened the soil around its roots, added a sprinkle of nutrients, and watered it just enough to revive its spirit. Watching him, I was struck by the way gentleness led to transformation.
In Philippians 4:13, we read, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Thomas embodied that promise, demonstrating how gentleness and obedience to God’s call can bring forth life—not just in gardens, but in our hearts.
Sometimes, we may feel as though we are wilting in our own lives, struggling to find purpose and direction. But when we allow the gentle guidance of the Spirit to work within us, we discover new growth and strength. Like Thomas with that flower, God patiently nurtures our spirits, reminding us that through Him, we can thrive, even against the odds. Let us embrace that gentle power in our journey of faith.
