The Power of Humility - Biblical Analogy
There’s a small town nestled between rolling hills, where a quiet man named Samuel tended his garden. Every morning, he would rise with the sun, kneeling in the soft earth, planting seeds with the patience of a seasoned farmer. Neighbors often wondered why Samuel’s garden flourished while their own struggled. They rushed their plants, pouring on water and fertilizer, desperate for immediate results. But Samuel took his time, nurturing the soil, waiting for each seed to find its roots.
One day, a neighbor, frustrated by his own garden's failure, approached Samuel. "Why do you spend so much time being patient? Don’t you want to see growth?” Samuel smiled and replied, “Look at the trees on the hills. They didn’t grow tall overnight. They absorbed the rain, endured the storms, and waited for the right season.”
As they spoke, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves overhead, echoing Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Samuel understood that true growth—whether in the garden or our spiritual lives—often requires humility and patience.
We may feel like we’re in a season of waiting, but trust that God is cultivating something beautiful within us. Just as Samuel tended his garden with care and humility, let us also yield to His timing, for in our patient trust, He promises to lift us up and help us grow.
