The Power of Salvation - Story

A few years ago, I had the privilege of meeting a young man named David at a local shelter where I was volunteering. David had faced unimaginable challenges—addiction, loss, and a feeling of deep isolation. His spirit seemed crushed under the weight of his experiences, and the joy of life had been replaced by a heavy fog. Yet, amid his struggles, David clung desperately to a flicker of hope.

One chilly evening, after a simple meal, he shared a story that pierced my heart. He spoke of a time when he was wandering in the woods, lost and afraid. As night fell, the shadows grew long and menacing. But just when despair threatened to consume him, he stumbled upon a small clearing bathed in moonlight. In that moment, he felt an overwhelming sense of peace and presence—he heard the gentle whisper of Shalom, the comfort of being known and not alone.

As I listened, I couldn’t help but think of Psalm 23:1-6, where we are reminded that the Lord is our Shepherd. He leads us beside still waters and restores our souls. David’s story reflected that very promise. In the midst of his challenges, he found guidance and purpose. And through acts of service, he began to rebuild his life.
