The Prompt That Changed Everything

In April 2021, Apple released iOS 14.5 with a small but revolutionary feature called App Tracking Transparency. For the first time, every app had to ask permission before collecting your data: "Allow this app to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?"

What stunned people wasn't the question — it was what it revealed. Most iPhone users had no idea that dozens of apps were silently following them across the internet, building profiles of their habits, purchases, and movements. They had been tracked for years without knowing it. When the vast majority of users chose "Ask App Not to Track," it wasn't just a privacy preference — it was the sound of millions discovering chains they never knew they wore.

Paul writes to the Galatians, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1). So many of us live monitored by things we've never examined — old guilt, inherited shame, patterns of people-pleasing that run silently in the background of our souls, collecting data on our every move and shaping what we believe we deserve.

The Gospel is God's App Tracking Transparency moment. The Holy Spirit shines a light on every hidden tracker — every fear, every false belief, every quiet bondage — and gives us the power to say, "No. Not anymore."

Freedom doesn't begin when the chains fall off. It begins when you finally see them.
