The Quiet Repair You Never See

In 2015, Swedish scientist Tomas Lindahl shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for a discovery that should stop every one of us in our tracks. He found that every single cell in your body sustains roughly ten thousand DNA lesions per day. Ten thousand breaks, mutations, and errors — in every cell, every day you are alive. By all rights, we should fall apart.

But we do not. Because God designed repair enzymes that work around the clock, scanning each strand of DNA, finding the damage, cutting out the broken piece, and faithfully rebuilding what was lost. They never rest. They never declare the task too great. They simply find the next break and mend it.

Here is what strikes me about that. Most of perseverance is not dramatic. It is not a single heroic moment under a spotlight. It is the ten thousandth small repair. It is getting up again on a Tuesday morning when nobody is watching. It is opening your Bible when the words feel dry. It is choosing forgiveness one more time when the wound still aches.

The Apostle Paul wrote, "Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." The Lord who designed a body that mends itself ten thousand times a day is the same God who sustains your spirit through every fracture and failure.

You are not falling apart. You are being repaired. Keep going.
