The Road That Doesn't Make Sense
If you have ever used Waze, the GPS navigation app, you know the experience. You are driving to a familiar destination, a place you have been a hundred times, and suddenly the app tells you to turn left when you know — you just know — that right is faster. It routes you down a side street you have never taken, through a neighborhood that feels like the opposite direction. Every instinct says this is wrong.
But Waze sees what you cannot. It is processing real-time data from thousands of other drivers. It knows about the accident on the highway three miles ahead. It knows about the construction zone that will add twenty minutes. It has information you do not have access to, and it is asking you to do one simple thing: trust the guidance even when the route does not make sense.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." God sees the full map of our lives. He sees the wreck ahead, the road that dead-ends, the detour that leads to something beautiful we never would have found on our own.
The difference is this: Waze sometimes gets it wrong. The Almighty never does. When His direction feels counterintuitive, when the path He is laying out makes no earthly sense, trust the One who sees every road, every obstacle, and every destination — all at once.
