The Save You Never Had to Click

Every writer over forty remembers the sickening moment: a power surge, a frozen screen, and the realization that you hadn't clicked "Save" in the last hour. Everything — gone. Microsoft Word had an autorecover feature, but it was unreliable, a gamble at best.

Then Google Docs changed everything. Open a document, and saving happens continuously, silently, without your effort. There is no save button to forget. Every keystroke is preserved in real time. Close the tab accidentally, spill coffee on the keyboard, let your battery die mid-sentence — when you return, every word is waiting for you exactly where you left it.

Grace works like that.

Under the old covenant, maintaining your standing before God required constant vigilance — sacrifices offered at the right time, in the right way, by the right person. Miss a step, and the gap between you and the Holy One widened. It was spiritual "manual save," and the weight of remembering never let up.

But the cross of Christ introduced a grace that saves continuously. You cannot out-sin its reach. You cannot forget to activate it. Paul writes, "Where sin increased, grace increased all the more" (Romans 5:20). It runs ahead of your failures, silently preserving what matters most — your relationship with the Father.

You don't have to keep clicking "Save." Christ already did — once, for all, forever.
