The Server That Never Stops Pinging
Every internet user has encountered the 404 error — "Page Not Found." You type in an address, hit enter, and the server responds with a flat rejection. The page you wanted simply does not exist at that location anymore.
But there is another protocol running quietly beneath the surface of every network connection, one most people never see. It is called a "heartbeat" or "keep-alive" signal. When two computers establish a connection, one sends a tiny packet of data to the other at regular intervals — sometimes every thirty seconds — asking one simple question: "Are you still there?" And it keeps asking. If the connection drops, it asks again. If the other machine goes silent for minutes, it asks again. The protocol does not give up after three failed attempts and move on. It keeps pinging.
That is the nature of God's forgiveness. We are the ones who return 404 errors. We disconnect. We go offline. We move to addresses where we think He cannot find us. But the Father's grace operates like an inexhaustible keep-alive signal, reaching across every distance we create. "How often shall I forgive?" Peter asked. Jesus answered seventy times seven — not because forgiveness has a limit at 490, but because God's mercy never stops pinging.
You may feel like a dead connection this morning. But the signal is still arriving. He is still asking: "Are you still there?" And all Heaven waits for your response.
