The Signals You Cannot See

Every time you open Google Maps on your phone, you participate in an act of quiet trust. Somewhere above you — 12,550 miles above you, to be precise — at least four GPS satellites are hurtling through space at 8,700 miles per hour. You cannot see them. You cannot hear them. You have never touched one. Yet when your phone says, "Turn right in 300 feet," you turn.

The entire Global Positioning System depends on your device receiving signals from objects that are, for all practical purposes, invisible. The satellites transmit. Your phone receives. And based on the precise timing of those signals, you know exactly where you stand — even when you have never been to that place before.

Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." We sometimes treat that verse as though it describes a vague, wishful feeling. But faith is not vague at all. It is as precise as trilateration. God speaks. We receive. And based on the reliability of His signal — tested across every generation of believers who have ever lived — we know exactly where we stand, even when the road ahead is unfamiliar.

The difference, of course, is that satellites can fail. On rare occasions, GPS drifts. But the One who charts our course has never lost a signal, never dropped a connection, never miscalculated a single step.

You may not be able to see Him right now. But He is locked onto you. Trust the signal. Take the turn.
