The Slave's Bible - Black Church (John 3:16)
In 1807, a British missionary society published a Bible for Caribbean slaves—but they cut out the Exodus, most of the prophets, and Revelation. They removed any passage that might inspire hope for freedom. But they couldn't cut John 3:16. "God so loved THE WORLD." Enslaved people heard it and knew: if God loved the world, He loved THEM. They weren't property; they were beloved. The masters tried to weaponize Scripture; the gospel kept breaking free. John 3:16 can't be contained by oppressors. God's love reaches everyone the powerful try to exclude.
