The Smallest Hand That Changed the World

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the great leaders of Middle-earth gather at the Council of Elrond to decide the fate of a weapon that could destroy them all. Warriors argue. Kings debate. Elves and dwarves trade accusations. The room erupts into chaos as powerful men insist they should be the ones to carry the Ring — or that no one can.

Then a small voice cuts through the noise.

"I will take it," says Frodo Baggins, a hobbit who stands barely four feet tall. "I will take the Ring to Mordor. Though I do not know the way."

Every eye turns to him. He has no army, no ancient bloodline, no great strength. He is terrified. And yet he steps forward because he understands something the warriors have missed — courage is not the absence of fear. It is the willingness to act when everything inside you screams to stay seated.

Scripture tells us that when God called Gideon, He found him hiding in a winepress. When the Almighty chose David, he was the youngest brother nobody thought to invite. God has always done His greatest work through people who felt too small for the task.

You may be sitting in this sanctuary today feeling wholly unqualified for what God is asking of you. Take heart. The Most High does not call the equipped — He equips the called. Your "I will take it" may be the six words that change everything.
